Security and AI, explained for the people who run the business.

I'm Chad Kempt. I've spent more than 25 years keeping Canadian businesses running, and I speak to leadership teams about the security risks they don't hear about and how to put AI to work without adding to them.

About Chad

Chad Kempt started Fast Computers in southern Ontario in 1998. He moved the business to managed services in 2005, opened its first storefront in Hagersville in 2008, and today leads a team in Jarvis that looks after the technology, Microsoft 365 environments and security of businesses across the region.

That long view is what he brings to a room. Chad has watched every wave of technology promise to change everything, and he has cleaned up after the ones that changed the wrong things. He is excited about AI and what it can do for a business. He is just as clear that the companies getting the most from it are the ones that know what it can reach, who owns it and what happens when it gets something wrong.

In 2025 The ASCII Group, a community of independent IT providers across North America, named Chad its Member of the Year, the first Canadian to receive the award. He sits on ASCII's Member Advisory Committee and runs its monthly members meeting, where 50 to 80 IT business owners compare notes on what's working. Every year he leads the member meeting at ASCII Edge Toronto, and he helped shape the 2025 ASCII Edge conference series. He is also a former member of the Datto Advisory Board, and he has twice spoken at the annual retreat for executive directors of Ontario women's shelters. Closer to home he is vice chair of the Grand Erie Business Centre board and a past president of the Hagersville BIA (Business Improvement Area).

ChannelPro magazine put Chad on the cover of its August 2021 issue with his column on building a co-managed IT business, and Channel Insider, ChannelPro and MSP Success have since interviewed him on running an IT business, working alongside in-house IT teams and the value of peer communities.

Speaking

Plain language, real stories and something the audience can act on the next morning. No fear-mongering and no product pitch. Each talk is tailored to the room.

For leadership teams

Put AI to Work Without Leaving the Door Open

AI tools like Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT can give a team hours back every week. They can also quietly reach data nobody meant to share. Chad walks through what AI is actually good at today, where the new exposure comes from (internet-facing AI-built apps, agents with too much access, staff using tools nobody approved) and the handful of decisions leadership has to own.

Audiences leave with the questions to ask their team this week and a simple starting point for an AI policy.

For business owners and executives

What Attackers Are Counting On You Not to Know

The attacks hitting Canadian businesses right now, told in business terms. Logins stolen through Microsoft's own sign-in page, a phone call in the CEO's own voice, an invoice that looks exactly right. Why the usual advice falls short, and why the gaps that hurt most are usually the ones nobody owns.

Audiences leave with a short list of things to check on Monday, written for the person who signs the cheques, not the IT department.

For IT and MSP audiences

Building an IT Business That Lasts

Lessons from more than 25 years running an IT company: moving from break-fix to managed services, growing through referrals instead of sales pressure, and why peer communities like ASCII change the trajectory of a business. Practical, candid and drawn from what worked and what didn't.

Audiences leave with concrete moves to make in their own business, from someone who has made them.

Formats: keynote, breakout session, workshop or panel. 20 to 60 minutes. In person across Ontario and beyond, or virtual.
